This paper allows us to understand the ways in which boys and girls appropriate the public space through play, specifically, within the Betania Park in the town of Bosa Chicalá, in Bogotá. To achieve this, 4 boys and girls were given a voice through their social representations, through photography and the interpretation that they gave to their aesthetic artifacts; as a research methodology, the creative performative method was followed, articulated with the empirical phenomenological design. The information gathering tools used were the co-creative workshop and the field diary. The main findings were focused on the ways in which the boys and girls inhabit the park as a symbolic space in which aspects such as the market, the representations of adults and the physical characteristics of the territory come together, but in which they always imposed their creativity. At the same time, it was possible to identify that public space is a scenario of child participation in which regulated freedom prevails and the possibility of being able to play in their own way, feeling the safety and support of their family.spa
