Analyzing the representations, knowledge and practices of social workers who attend afro- Colombian population implies a critical and reflective lecture on the professional chore. It must be from an integral vision, which considers the academic knowledge, practices in professional and daily environments, challenges, errors and merits from this guild. Bearing in mind that social work as guarantor of rights, contributes to the materialization of the targets in the plans, programs and projects focused in the “afro” community, privileging its interests and needs. This way, the intention of the investigative group from this article is to generate a stage of reflection so that, those who exercise social work, are constantly valuing his work from its ethical principles, its legitimacy and the suitable and incongruous interventions that have been proposed in the work with the afro descendant community from the differential approach and the Human Rights approach.en-US
